Last month we wrote about an interesting food competition that was being run by the US Embassy here in Bangkok. Around that time, the US Ambassador to Thailand, Kristie Kenney, was about to fly to Thailand to take up her new position. Before she arrived, Ambassador Kristie posted a couple of videos on youtube directed at the Thai people. In the second video (see here) she told them how excited she was to be able to eat genuine Thai food in Bangkok. In her video, she asked the Thai people to recommend to her some of their favourite dishes. A competition was set up on the Facebook pages of the US Embassy. They announced that the winners would be able to have lunch with the Ambassador. And here they are in Ekamai at Sabai Jai Gai Yang Restaurant. All of these pictures are by the US Embassy in Bangkok and you can see the complete album by clicking here.

Steamed red snapper in soy sauce

Grilled Chicken (gai yang) with sticky rice

Fish cakes (tod mun pla)

Shrimp (I guess) with Glass Noodles (kung ob wunsen)

Ambassador Kristie has a personal Twitter account that you can follow at @KristieKenney. There is also an official Twitter account for the embassy at @USEmbassyBKK.
